This morning I had to come to terms with the fact that I need to keep my act together, no more having a cocktail every evening or running out for froyo or ice cream just to get out of the house. All sins I committed last week :-\ And lots of weeks before that. The last few days, I was finally over my big gluten mistake, so I was hard on myself and got myself back on track — I had under 50g of carbs each day. I’m now down 11.4lbs overall!
I am a sugar addict, and Jeff even more of a sugar addict :-\ I’m tempted to make him do next month’s 21-Day Sugar Detox, but I honestly don’t want to pay $21 for things I already know from The Primal Blueprint 21-Day Total Body Transformation, maybe I’ll finally get him to do Mark’s annual challenge? We’ll see.
I do know I’ve come across a whole bunch of things that are going on the shopping list for Monday’s bulk food buy. I think I might make this a regular thing to blog the stuff that’s been catching my eye? We’ll see 🙂
Berry Almond Kale Granola… OMG! I’ve had something like this in the back of my mind since Paleo People Granola seems to have disappeared off the face of the earth. Even better, I can make this myself! I’ve had a dehydrator for a few Christmases now, it’s time to break that puppy out!
I’ve craved shrimp ever since Jeff started talking about his upcoming fishing trip and how they’re going to hit Joe’s Crab Shack afterwards. Maybe us ladies will have an even better meal back at home! Plus Jeff wont eat cilantro, and I love anything citrus…
I love green beans. Always have! And for a while, I thought I needed to avoid them like the plague, because they’re beans. Beans aren’t paleo, right? Well, because you eat green beans fresh — not dried — and they’re more pulp? than bean, you’re A-OK. Don’t believe me? Google it. Or just read this great article. Anyway, back on topic — I have to make this. I’m seriously addicted to anything with capers! The only things I would change is that I would roast this in the oven and add in some slivered almonds 🙂 I’m thinking this is going on the Thanksgiving menu!
When I first introduced Jeff to Mark’s Daily Apple, I got a text message asking me to make these little breakfast meat loaves. We LOVE hard-boiled eggs and breakfast sausage (we even make our own breakfast sausage) so I can’t believe I haven’t made these yet! I would probably just soft boil the eggs before baking, to help prevent the yolk from getting too chalky.
I’ve also been craving cinnamon lately. Fall isn’t even beginning to show its face (and it wont until the end of September) but I’m already in the mindset of candles, cinnamon, cider, leaves… I have a problem. I hate summer here, but absolutely love the cold Fall & Winter. ANYWAY, these little cinnamon apple bites are low in carbs! They’ve been on my list for forever, but I have yet to stock the pantry with the coconut items needed to make them.
Another one from PaleOMG — Turkey Basil Artichoke Meatballs. YUM! I love artichokes even more than I love capers! These would be great with some zucchini “pasta” — which I have yet to try since my garden this summer was a complete fail.
Jeff LOVES frittatas, and what could be better than a Fajita Frittata? I might try making this in muffin tins, easier for leftovers and Jeff also loves the novelty of muffin tin frittatas. If you make fajitas the night before, you could use the leftovers to make this!
That’s it for now — I’m making myself too hungry. I can’t wait until our bulk shopping trip on Monday… I’m going crazy at home with the limited options we have left! At least we have enough for a large batch of paleo chili tonight 🙂
